Suppose there's a canon wherein the antagonist (offscreen throughout) is Anne and the protagonist's beloved teacher (onscreen often) is Beth and the big reveal in the end is that Anne is in fact Beth. How in hell would that character be wrangled? Would 'Anne' and 'Beth' be separate canonical tags to preserve the spoiler for anyone browsing the fic without having read the canon, or would there be a canonical 'Anne | Beth' like 'Snow White | Mary Margaret Blanchard'?
(I've got a particular book in mind, though I haven't pinned down my fic idea quite well enough to write it yet. Naming the book makes this whole comment a horrid spoiler, though.)
